Screen Time

Screen Time Guidelines by Age

– Under 18 months: Avoid screen time except for video chatting with family and friends.
– 18-24 months: If you introduce screen time, focus on high-quality educational programming and watch together with your child.
– Ages 2-5: Limit screen time to 1 hour per day of high-quality educational programming. Adult co-viewing is strongly recommended.
– Ages 6 and older: Encourage healthy habits, limit screen time, and ensure it doesn’t interfere with sleep, physical activity, and family relationships.

Key Principles

– Content Quality Matters: Focus on educational content rather than entertainment.
– Adult Involvement: Co-viewing enhances learning and helps guide your child’s screen time experience.
– Balance is Key: Ensure screen time doesn’t replace physical activity, sleep, or family interaction.
